Response To Straight Or Gay Sex

I found this post debatable, because the author discusses some pretty controversial issues within the porn industry. First of all, I agree with the author in that straight men do have a choice whether or not to engage in gay porn. However, to say that these men shouldn’t be engaging in gay porn is presumptuous. Again, it is a choice to participate in pornography, gay or straight. However, some people choose porn as a career, because they feel they have no options left. For example, perhaps someone has always dreamed of becoming a medical doctor, but lack the financial resources for school. This person wants this dream so badly, that they start thinking about doing porn. Everyone has dreams; people are driven to become the person they were meant to be. I, for example, have always dreamed of becoming a child psychologist. However, because of financial and family reasons, I have adjusted my dream a bit. Instead I will go for my MSW, which is a two year program instead of five years. Would I consider starring in gay porn so I could achieve my dream? Of course not! I’ll just have to adjust my dream a little.

On a personal note, I don’t understand how straight men are able to deal with doing gay porn mentally. A lot of straight guys I know are homophobic. I am not saying I agree with this, but it’s a reality. Thus, I don’t know how straight men could engage in sex with another man. I understand they make more money, when doing gay porn, but I just don’t get it. Although, I do understand what it is like to have a dream and lack the resources to fulfill it. Perhaps this is what drives straight men to do gay porn.

Response to Lectures 5 and 6: Is Porn the Only Way the Internet Can Exist?

It seems that porn has moved from unattractive and technologically disabled to attractive and modern. Nowadays, you can obtain pornography from several different entities: the porn shop, magazines, telephone and of course, the internet.

After listening to the lectures, I was surprised to know that many famous people, such as Jackie Kennedy went to see Deep Throat in the theatre. I would think that being in the lime light; stars would not want to make it obvious that they went to see a porn flick. Then again, this probably helped propel pornography into modernity. If the famous are doing it, then this made porn more appealing. I think this because society often follows the lead of famous persons. I also find it interesting that only the wealthy seemed to have access to porn. However, this makes sense, because at that time, society was keener on class and society.

I also found it disturbing to know that the first porn star, Linda Lovelace, was forced to do porn. It is evident that the dark side of pornography existed from the very beginning. I feel bad for this woman, because she will always be known as the first porn star. She will never be known as a mother, wife or friend. It is sad that the first porn star was forced to do a film. This was most likely the beginning of porn being viewed as sick and disturbing.

In regards to lecture six, I was surprised to learn that it has taken a while for technology to come up with easier methods for accessing porn on the internet. Nowadays, it is so ridiculously easy to look at porn on the internet. It seems that as technology has advanced, so has the world of porn. Although, I think that it is quite fastidious to say that without porn, hardly anyone would use the internet. I rarely look at porn on the net, instead I use it everyday for email, school, shopping, talking to people etc.

I would be very interested to watch the movie “Inside Deep Throat”. However, I am wondering how honest the film is. Does anyone else seen this film yet?
